When your monthly data usage allowance is reached, your broadband speed will be reduced to a low speed of 256kbps. You won’t incur excess data usage charges on your plan ‒ you’ll just stay at that speed until the end of your billing month.
Home Broadband Data Top-Ups three times a year
You have three Home Broadband Data Top-Ups to use from 1 January to 31 December, at no additional cost. A top-up gives you another month’s data allowance to use until the end of your current billing month. You can use multiple top-ups in the same billing month if you need to, until all three top-ups have been used.

Who is eligible to use a Home Broadband Data Top-Up?
Telstra home broadband customers, on plans/bundles which are slowed upon reaching 100% of the monthly data allowance, are eligible to use Home Broadband Data Top-Ups on ADSL, Cable, Velocity and NBN technologies.
When can I use a Home Broadband Data Top-Up?
If you're approaching or have reached your plan's monthly data allowance, you can request a data top-up. Eligible customers have three Home Broadband Data Top-Ups available to use from 1 January to 31 December, at no additional cost. A top-up gives you another month's data allowance to use until the end of your current billing month, and returns your service to normal speeds.
How many Home Broadband Data Top-Ups can I use?
Eligible customers are entitled to request up to three Home Broadband Data Top-Ups per calendar year. These are available at no additional cost.
