EXCESS DOWNLOADS
Each Exetel ADSL account user can choose if they will be charged for excess downloads, or whether their plan will be shaped to 64kbps. The choice can be made from the member's user facilities at any time during the month, UP TO THE TIME THE PLAN ALLOWANCES HAVE BEEN REACHED.
The 'default' is set as the paid-for option for both peak and offpeak periods, as that is the way the plans are originally provisioned. Any changes which the user makes will remain in force unless changed again by the user. Peak and off-peak paying/shaping can be selected independently
They implemented what seems to be impossible for some other ISPs...

I'd rather pay a few dollars than be shaped. With TPG though there is no option... shaping it is.

You might be interested to hear though, regarding this, that the usage meter at TPG updates infrequently, sometimes only once a day (or if your connection drops).

I like their flexibility.
Using P2P in a family with 2+ children easy to exceed the limit by 10Gigs.
With a tight budget $30 counts.

What happens if you are the one who switches off-on(reboot) the modem?

I think the usage meter updates if you turn the modem off and on again.

For the people with kids and p2p, I would get a modem that can throttle certain IP addresses or maybe build a linux firewall from a $20 old PC that can do the same thing.

Having been throttled to 64 Kbit for three days I can tell you that three PCs running off such a link will kill any enjoyment you might have....

With node I can buy extra Gigs for $5/GB or $15/5GB.
I have used this option twice.

You don't really need the shaping option with many of there plans. My plan has gone from 12gig peak/24 o'peak. To 30gig peak/ 48gig o'peak, am actually thinking of dropping down to a lower plan now, to save a few $$
