For those who want to dabble in dot net languages, you can try your hand with this free edition.

<<Until November 7, 2006, we are promotionally discounting the downloadable versions of Express to free. This doesn’t mean that the product turns off after a year, but rather that as long as you download the product before November 7, 2006, you can get it for free and you can use it forever.>>

I'm very interested that what is this going to be?
I'll try to download it.
First I'll find out that how much does it cost?(I do know that it is free)

Enroll at TAFE in the cheapest course you can find, it doesn't matter what it is and then when you get your student ID card, go to CitySoftware or another authorised academic retailer and buy Visual Studio at the academic price. That's how I got mine. From memory VS 6.0 was about $230.00.:satisfied :satisfied

I didn't have to supply any information except maybe an email address.
Hmmm...
<<At Microsoft, we understand that product registration is usually a hassle. It can take a long time, requires you to enter personal information, and you usually get very little in return. Quite frankly, it hasn’t been worth the effort. Until now.>>
Thanks Biggles!

512 connection.
My annual leave would be enough to complete.

Ouch! VB was only around 85MB. Mind you, I didn't dl MSDN. I thought that could wait until later...

I didn't pay for it guys, Microsoft offers it free to many Universities as part of their academic alliance thingo (probably so we get used to it while we're learning, then we'll want to buy it when we're working in the "real world").

I wouldn't be able to afford it if I had to pay :silent

I've got MSDN on CD (takes up three CD's), again courtesy of Uni. I often find the online version more helpful though (http://msdn.microsoft.com).
